Back to school pictures with Natalie and Daniel

Natalie is so much fun! I woke her up Monday morning and asked her to get ready because I wanted to go take back to school pictures. Her eyes were barely open, but she was a good sport.
One of the things that I really like about Natalie is that she always tries to do what is right. I can trust her to make good choices.
She has really become a woman of integrity. I also love that she chips in and helps whenever it is needed. She is NOT one of those high maintainence girls that has to have everything. She is so down to earth and fun.
I am really thankful that Natalie is part of our family. I can hardly believe that this is her senior year, but then I have always thought of her as older than she is. From the time she was just a little girl I have expected so much out of her. She rarely lets me down. She will accomplish great things in her life.

I just couldn't pass this flower up. It was so beautiful like Natalie!
Daniel tried his hardest to make this super hard for me. I would tell him to smile and start to push the button and he would make a terrible face. I think I told him to "stop it" about 50 times.

He really just wanted to have fun. I decided if we were going to get anywhere or any pictures I better cooperate with HIM!
Got to love those bears! No I am not a Chicago Bears fan. I really don't even know if Daniel is. I know Matt is because he has a Bears hat.
Finally a good shot. I think Daniel is really fun. Something that I really like about Daniel is his ability to get along with people. He doesn't have to be the best at everything to be happy. He is just comfortable with himself. He can be in a crowd and doesn't have to be the center of attention.
He really wanted me to get the name in this picture because he thought it would be so funny because he pulled a weed and put it in his mouth.
One day I asked Daniel to help me take 17 kids on a hike. He was so helpful and responsible. I really didn't know he had it in him. I didn't know that he was so good with kids. I think Daniel will pleasantly surprize me with how he develops into a man!

Jeff and Sammi's Bridal Shower

We played the toilet paper game. We had to make bridal gowns for our teams model!
Jeff, Brent, and Ben Clove were the models, and very good sports.
Jeff even had a cape to his gown.
I wish this was a video of Brent walking out. He was hilarious!
This is the final product. Lots of good fun!

Sister Stamler wanted to give Sammi a bridal shower. Sammi wasn't going to be back down before the wedding so Jeff was invited and opened their gifts. It was super fun because they invited some couples from the ward. What a fun, fun night!
Jeff now has more tools than his dad, and they are all in an organized fashion.
They now have a blender, and a pancake griddle, some nice glassware, lots of handy kitchen gadgets including a really nice pancake turner, a big tote full of rice and beans for their food storage, and handy things that you need when you set up a house like a trash can and toilet paper and paper towels.
He got lots of really good advice, and it was an all around fun night.
I am thankful that Sister Stamler gave Sammi and Jeff the shower. I really think Jeff had a good time too!

Back to School Pictures

I took Emily and Sadie to the park yesterday to take back to school pictures. In the past I have ordered pictures from the school, but decided that I could do way better myself. I am please with how they turned out. I decided that I don't spend enough time telling my children the things that I like about them. This week I felt like police mom with trying to keep things going the way that I thought would be best.

One of the things that I love about Sadie is the way she chips in and helps. She sees a need and just helps out. When I am working in the kitchen she will come in and say, "can I help"! I always say, "sure I would love your help". When the grand children are over she will play with them and hold them and make herself useful. I think this is a great quality to have.
Sisters! I never had a blood sister. I always wanted a sister. I told my mother about a million times when I was growing up with all those brothers that I would really like a sister. Now I have daughters and daughters-in-law, and lots of sisters in the gospel. I hope my girls always cherish having a sister!

Another quality that I love about Sadie is her smile. She also has a very contagious laugh! It is not one of those fake laughs that drives a person crazy. It is a good ole belly laugh that just makes me smile. Sadie is comfortable with herself and I hope she always stays that way. She is just herself and she doesn't try to act like someone else.
Emily is beautiful and extremely creative. One of the things that I love about Emily is that she sees things through an artists eyes. She is always drawing. Her specialty is drawing women in beautiful gowns and dresses. When we went on our vacation this year we were in northern Wyoming up by Yellowstone Park. We drove over a pass and she said in a very urgent voice, "mom, give me the camera quick"! She didn't just say it once. She said it over and over. She just wanted to capture some of natures beauty.

Another quality that I love about Emily is that she takes time to stop and smell the roses. Sometimes I don't slow down enough to enjoy life and all it has to offer, I just plow through life like I have too much work to do. I don't think Emily will ever have that problem. She takes time to enjoy life.

Emily also is very persistent at developing her talents. She practices everyday and many times without having to be reminded. She really makes her violin sing and plays quite beautifully. Another thing that Emily enjoys is designing fashions. She loves to shop and look for modest clothing. Shopping is not one of my favorite things to do in life. I do it because it is necessary. I think Emily could shop all day and look at things and never get tired. Not that she has to buy, buy, buy. She really enjoys trying on clothes and seeing how they go together. Sometimes after trying on several outfits her room looks like a tornado went through it. But it cleans up quickly because it is all clothes.

Grandma Fillmore's 80th birthday party July 23, 2011 (Not her real birthday)

Grandma Carma Ririe Fillmore turned 80 years old this year on May 22, 2011. She said that she never thought she would live to see 80. Mark and Ellen organized a nice birthday party/ open house for her and all her kids were able to come. A few of the grand kids were missing but it was a fun event!

This is Brent, Claris, Mark and their mother.
We tried to get a good picture with the kids and their spouses. Out of about 10 pictures there wasn't one that had everyone looking happy. I chose this one because I look awake. Brent looked good in all the other pictures and I looked terrible. Sorry Brent.
 Courtney, Ellie and Grandma
Garrick is super fun to take photos of. His big brown eyes are always so cute. Emily likes to play with Garrick.
Natalie found friendship with her cousin from Canada

This one is grandma and all her grandchildren, some of their spouses, and great grand children.
I don't think any of us realize when we start a family how it will grow over the years. This picture is lacking all of Mark and Ellen's children and grandchildren.

Ririe Family Reunion at Brian Head Utah July 24-27, 2011

We had a great time at the reunion. Matt seemed pretty relaxed like he was enjoying the vacation. When we arrived he found out that we had a refrigerator in our yert ( kind of a round, tent like cabin). He brought over all these Mountain Dews that Becca had bought for him so that he would be in a good mood, he put them in the refrigerator and gave strict commands that all the kids stay out of them!
On of the days Adam was pretty tired and layed down with Rosalee to take a nap. When I came in the yert it looked like Rosalee was about to fall off his arm. I asked him if she was falling and he assured me that he was in complete control! I took this picture to show him what it looked like.
Ellie is so cute and fun, but she still won't let me hold her. She will give me kisses and hugs as long as her mom or dad is holding her. Courtney tells me that she thinks Ellie will warm up if I ignore her. Do you know how hard it is to ignore your granddaughter? Adam doesn't think ignoring her will work.
There were horses there for us to ride. Matt rode Boss.
 Natalie rode Freckles.
 Emily rode Earl

Sadie rode Beauty! She was so excited to ride. The last time that we tried to get her on a horse she was really freaked out. By the time she got back from the ride Cowboy Mike had her talked into riding lessons!

See you later, Alligator!

Jeff seemed to have fun but Sammi wasn't there. He had wanted her to come but she had a prior comittment and so we went without her.

Garrick really wanted to ride. He was so excited to get on the horse, but getting him on was harder than it looked!

I think Garrick smiled from ear to ear the entire time he was on that horse!

I got a kick out of this picture because of the girls laughing who are helping with the horses. Everywhere Daniel goes girls notice him. He use to be pretty stuck on himself. But lately he just seems to have fun and ignore it all! I really enjoy being around him when he is like this.
